What others have said about the program:

'I found this course to be invaluable to my sanity. I use the skills and meditations every day. I have a new relationship with myself and with my mind and emotions. I feel balanced and trusting that I can deal with any situations that may challenge me."

                                                                                                       - Elaine Gentles, Aroona

"This was an excellent course. I had previously heard about mindfulness through radio programs, university and other sources but had not received any formal training. As well as building on my previous knowledge of mindfulness, the course taught me wonderful mindfulness training exercises and explained how they can benefit me.
Astrid is a very patient and understanding teacher and a great facilitator who encouraged progress but also made us all feel comfortable with whatever difficulties we experienced with the training. Within the first couple of sessions, I was already aware of benefits from the training which I will build on as I use the exercises throughout the rest of my life."

                                                                                          - John Endacott, Coolum Beach

“I have suffered anxiety disorder and mild depression for the past 4 years. I didn’t want to rely on medication to improve my life, so wanted to find other drug free ways to live a better quality of life. I found this course which has given me the tools to cope much better with life’s ups and downs. The daily meditation has really opened up a whole new world, my anxiety is much less now and I am able to function much more smoothly on a daily basis. This mindfulness course has taught me to be more in touch with my body, my mind and my feelings and to accept them as they are. I feel mindfulness is a path we should all explore. Astrid is so passionate and really has an amazing and unique talent with helping people. I know a lot of people would benefit from this course.”

         - Anonymous, Sunshine Coast

“Astrid is awesome. The course is fantastic and better than what I had expected. Some amazing tools are now part of my everyday life. Thank you for your great gift.”

                                                                                               - Jeremy Britton, Caloundra

In the program "MANAGING YOUR EMOTIONS", you will learn to:

  • BETTER MANAGE difficult emotions like stress, anxiety,  sadness, depression and anger.
  • REDUCE THE INFLUENCE of negative and painful thoughts and feelings on your life.
  • BETTER DEAL with difficult and stressful situations in your everyday life.
  • Connect with your own INNER KNOWING and RESOURCES.
  • Create a more fulfilling, MEANINGFUL life.
  • Become more ACCEPTING of YOURSELF and others.
  • Improve your SELF-ESTEEM.
  • Become MORE ASSERTIVE with other people.
  • IMPROVE your overall HEALTH and wellbeing.
  • Develop LIFE SKILLS and insights that will benefit you for the rest of your life.

For Whom?

Do you feel that your emotions are sometimes (or even often) running your life instead of you? Feeling   stressed, anxious and/or depressed a lot? Bit of a short fuse? And the more you are trying not to 'have' these emotions, the more they seem to  want to stay?

We all have intense and difficult emotions sometimes, but if this is happening more often than you would like, or is affecting your life in a negative way, than this program may be something for you.

If you are struggling with chronic pain, mindfulness training may be of benefit as well. It has been shown to often reduce the experience of pain and also help you to be less restricted in your everyday life and more positive. Mindfulness will also help with reducing negative thoughts and feelings related to the pain, and may reduce your need to take pain medication.

This program will be of benefit to anyone who would like to learn to better manage difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours, improve their overall health and wellbeing and create a more meaningful, fulfilling life. The program will be of particular benefit for people struggling with mood disorders and chronic pain.

This Program Includes:

·

Eight 3-hr weekly group sessions (max 12 people).

    ·   Three individual sessions (incl.  pre-course intake session).

    ·   Psycho-education on how to better manage difficult emotions and create a more fulfilling life.

·

Group practice of mindfulness meditation and other exercises.

·

CDs, reading and other materials to help you with your practice and exercises at home.

·

Availability of telephone support in between sessions if needed

·

Sharing of experiences, fun and laughter.

What to Expect:

To learn mindfulness, you do not need to become a Buddhist, be a ‘spiritual person’ or sit cross legged on the floor (although you can if you want to). Anyone can learn to be more mindful and experience the benefits!

However, to ‘retrain your brain’, as happens in mindfulness training, you will need to practice. Compare this to the need to exercise when you want to get fitter and lose weight!

So, when participating in the program, it is essential that you:

·        Commit to a daily practice of mindfulness meditation (two times 30 minutes each day)

·         Practice with applying mindfulness skills in your daily life

·         Come to each group session

·         Do some additional home exercises

You will receive CD’s with meditation instructions and reading materials to help you with your meditation practice at home.

How to Enrol:

You do not need a referral; simply contact the facilitator to make an appointment for a noncommittal pre-course informative session (free of charge), to see if this course is right for you.
